Nothing on this site is legal, insurance, engineering or tax advice. Cost figures come from the sources and years shown beside them, including national figures that are labeled as national. Your actual price depends on your house and comes only from a contractor's written estimate.

Permit rules, sewer guidance and state requirements can change. Where we describe what the City of Boston, the Boston Water and Sewer Commission, the Inspectional Services Department, a nearby town or the Commonwealth publishes, check with that office before you act. This site has no connection to any of them, and none of them recommends or works with it.

Rainfall figures are attributed to the National Weather Service, as reported locally, and are given for background only.

The cost calculator and the wet-basement checker give rough, general results. They can't see your basement and don't diagnose anything.

Contractors who receive requests are independent businesses. We don't vouch for them, and we aren't responsible for their estimates, work or conduct. Contractors may pay this site for advertising; homeowners never pay it or receive anything from it. Questions about insurance belong with your insurance agent.
